It’s been a wild ride so far in the postpartum season (4th trimester!) and I wanted to be sure to recap the third trimester before forgetting all of the details that I wanted to share with you!
Weeks 27-40 (41!) Chloe arrived at 40 weeks and six days so a little later than her due date and I can’t wait to share her full birth story with you in a separate post. The third trimester was probably my favorite because I finally looked clearly pregnant! I knew that I officially looked really pregnant when strangers out in public would say congratulations or ask when I was due.
One of my favorite parts of the third trimester was Chloe's baby shower!
House Projects
There were so many projects that I wanted to finish before baby Chloe arrived, but I only had so much time to work with! One of my big projects during the third trimester was working with a contractor to install and create a back door in our kitchen that leads directly into our garage. You can read all about the kitchen transformation in this post.
During the second trimester we had our house exterior painted so during the third trimester adding landscaping was a big focus. As I’m writing this post, it is 110° in Dallas, so we have been fighting all summer to keep our plants alive, even though we purchased drought resistant tolerant plants! Ha!
I was determined to have a beautiful, completely finished nursery by the time baby Chloe arrived, but that is definitely not the case as we are one month into postpartum, and her nursery is not complete! I promise there is a great reason for this, which I will share later, but I’m very excited to have a call with an interior designer tomorrow to work on finalizing our nursery design and receiving the last pieces of furniture that we have been waiting on for a month now.
In the meantime, she hasn’t even used her nursery aside from us rocking her in her glider, so there’s no real rush, but I hate having an unfinished project hanging over my head, so I will be thrilled to get it done soon.
I like to answer the questions that I was getting asked all the time during my third trimester, so my most FAQ are below!
Are you still able to eat everything?
I had a few foods during my pregnancy that made me so bloated and uncomfortable so I avoided those dung my entire pregnancy, so no real change there. One thing I was very aware of was my sugar intake each day. Everything we eat has so much sugar in it! Sugar can affect so many things happening in your body, so I tried to limit my intake to only natural sugars (ie. fruit).
What workouts are you doing?
I worked out my whole pregnancy, except for a few weeks during the first trimester when I could barely move. ;) One thing that I'm really proud of is that I did a workout the morning of the day I went into labor. I felt really strong during the later part of my pregnancy and that is my number one piece of advice to anyone who is pregnant...move your body daily!
I continued doing my normal workouts online with Stay Fit Virtual (love the programming!) and highly recommend!
How are you feeling?
Overall I felt really good during the third trimester. I tried to stay stress-free, keep working out, and be ready for anythinggg. One thing that helped me a lot was having an expectation to be ready for anything that could happen and hold my plans very loosely. Expectations are BIG for me, so managing them was a big part of having a healthy pregnancy for me.
Do you have a name yet?
It took us so long to decide on a name, but we finally landed on Chloe Grace and are so happy with it! Chloe means "blooming, verdent" which we love. When we decided on her name, I was planning my baby shower, which had a "wildflower" theme so we loved the "blooming" nod. Grace was my dad's grandmother's name, which we loved!
I'm about a month behind on content, but so so excited to share everything with you!
