Surprise! We invited friends over for a "Summer Fiesta" inspired by our recent trip to Cabo! Somewhere along the way, my husband decided that it should be my belated birthday party, but we shouldn't tell anyone. I'm all for cake, so I agreed. ;) We just wanted everyone to come over and have a good time, and not feel any pressure to bring gifts, etc. (although, I love a gift!)

I tried to go with a fun, vibrant fiesta theme without being tacky. I stuck to pinks and oranges for my color palette, and worked in a minimal amount of red and yellow in the florals.

My husband rented a double margarita machine, and it was definitely the star of the show! Everyone loved it, and it was so nice not to ask people to byob, etc.

We had a very simple food spread, but everything was so good! Adam made his famous bacon-wrapped, cheese-filled dates, and I found the CUTEST mini taco shells on Amazon.

I'll definitely be sharing more about the mini tacos and how I made stands for them - DIY coming soon!

The flowers made such a difference, and I ended up having extra blooms but nowhere to put them (more like: not enough time to make more arrangements!), so I created a flower crown station, and it was such a fun activity! Only a few ladies made one, but it's nice to offer an activity that someone can do if they need a few minutes away from the crowd. ;) 

I had a few questions about my floral arrangements so I'll share some details on how I create my large table arrangements soon.

Around 9pm, my husband brought out a birthday cake and everyone sang and caught on quick that it was my birthday party ;) We had some new friends there who were shocked, so that was kind of fun! Ha! Overall, it was such a wonderful night! If you want to do something different and you're not a big birthday person, I highly recommend trying a REVERSE surprise party!
